Hugi Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
General
Hugi runs on your iPhone. There is no Hugi account, no Hugi server, and no analytics of any kind.
The app has no networking of its own. It contains no third-party frameworks, and no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting services. It does not track you across apps or websites. I never receive your training plan, your workouts or anything you tell the coach, and I have no way to. Nothing is sold or shared.
The only services the app uses are Apple’s, on your behalf: Apple Health, the Workout app on Apple Watch, Apple Intelligence, Apple Maps and the App Store. Each is covered below.
If you have turned on Share with App Developers in your device settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with me. That is Apple’s feature, governed by Apple, and you can turn it off at any time.
What is stored on your device
- Your plan — the race (its name, distance, date, climbing, and any course you imported) and every planned session.
- What you told Hugi when you set it up — your goal, a recent race result or how much you run, the days you can run and your first run date.
- Your answers — effort ratings after runs, check-in answers, and which suggestions you accepted or declined.
- Settings — such as Watch alerts, the open cool-down and after-run reminders.
This stays in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. Like any app’s data, it is included in your device backups.
Apple Health
With your permission, Hugi reads your workouts from Apple Health: their type, start time, duration and distance, and, for workouts started from a Hugi session, which session it was. It uses them to tick off planned runs, to notice extra training and to keep your paces and plan in step with what you actually do.
Hugi does not write to Apple Health, and it does not read any other health data: no heart rate, no sleep, no body measurements. Workouts are read again from Apple Health when needed and are not copied into Hugi’s own storage.
You can change what Hugi may read at any time in the Health app: tap your profile, then Apps. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never shared with data brokers, and never disclosed to anyone.
Apple Watch
With your permission, Hugi schedules your upcoming sessions in the Workout app on your Apple Watch through Apple’s WorkoutKit. The steps, their times or distances, and your pace or heart-rate zone targets are sent from your iPhone to your Watch by Apple, not through any server of mine.
The heart-rate zone alerts use the zones set on your Watch. Hugi never sees your heart rate.
The coach
Hugi’s coach uses Apple Intelligence’s on-device language model. What it writes, and what you type to it in the chat, is processed on your iPhone and never leaves it. The chat is not saved: it is gone when you leave the screen. If the coach ever starts using Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, this policy will say so first.
Course files and maps
You can import a GPX file of your race’s course. The app sees only the file you choose. From it, it keeps the course’s points, elevations and named waypoints with your plan.
Showing the course on a map loads map tiles from Apple Maps, which is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Hugi does not use your location.
Notifications
After-run reminders are scheduled on your iPhone, and you can turn them off in Settings. Nothing is sent to a push service.
Purchases
Hugi is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase, all through the App Store. Payment is between you and Apple: the app never sees your payment details, your name or your Apple Account, and learns only whether a purchase is active. Restoring a purchase asks the App Store, not me.
Subscriptions renew until cancelled, and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings.
Children
Hugi collects nothing, so it collects nothing from children either. There is no chat with other people, no user-generated content shared with others, no advertising and nothing to sign up for.
Deleting your data
- Start a new plan — in Settings. This clears your plan, check-ins and effort ratings, and removes its workouts from your Apple Watch.
- Delete the app — removes everything Hugi has stored on your iPhone.
- Stop Hugi reading your workouts — in the Health app, under your profile, Apps.
Your workouts belong to Apple Health. Deleting Hugi does not remove them.
